Dr. Jan Freihardt is a Lecturer at ETH Zürich's Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering, combining engineering expertise with political science research. His work focuses on climate migration, disaster risk perception, and transdisciplinary science. He holds a PhD in Political Science (2023) from ETH, alongside master's degrees in Environmental Engineering and Science, Technology, and Policy. His research explores how climate change impacts migration decisions in vulnerable regions like Bangladesh, emphasizing marginalized communities and policy equity. He co-founded the NGO 'Wissenschaf(f)t Zukünfte e.V.' and authored the book Draußen ist es anders, advocating for transformative science approaches. Recent projects include the SNF-funded 'Clean Air Policy in Urban Areas of the Global South' and fieldwork along Bangladesh's Jamuna River, documented in the film Eroding Horizons.
