Prof. Vally Koubi is a Professor at ETH Zurich (Switzerland) and the University of Bern, specializing in the social consequences of climate change, environmental policy, and international cooperation. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester and has taught at institutions in the U.S., Belgium, and Switzerland. As former Director of ETH Zurich's Center for Comparative and International Studies (CIS), she contributes to the UN Geneva Science-Policy Platform and MedECC reports. Her research combines quantitative and field methods in Bangladesh, Kenya, and Vietnam, focusing on climate migration and conflict. Recent work highlights how sudden environmental events influence self-identification as environmental migrants.
Key contributions include analyzing climate-migration linkages in PLoS ONE (2024) and conflict-climate dynamics in Nature Reviews (2023). She explores public preferences for policy delegation in Comparative Political Studies (2021) and adaptive capacity's role in migration (Population and Environment, 2022).
