Jamie Baxter is an Associate Professor of Law and Associate Dean, Research at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University. He holds advanced degrees in economics and law, including a JSD from Yale.

His research explores the intersection of food systems, agriculture, land law, and local governance, focusing on the informal rules shaping human cooperation. Notable areas include property law in historical contexts, planning law, and the political economy of legal institutions.
Recent publications analyze open legal casebooks, farmland commons, and access to justice disparities. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to zero hunger, sustainable cities, and reduced inequalities.
