Dr Raphaël Girard is a Senior Lecturer in Law and Director of the Graduate LLB Programme at the University of Exeter Law School. He teaches constitutional and administrative law, law, democracy and populism, and has expertise in intersections between populism, authoritarianism, constitutionalism, and democracy, with a focus on judicial roles.
Education:
- PhD in Comparative Constitutional Law from LSE
- LLM (with Distinction) in Public International Law from LSE
- Dual degrees: BCL in Civil Law and LLB in Common Law from McGill University
- DEC in Social Sciences (International Studies) from Cégep de Sherbrooke
Research Focus: Constitutional law, comparative constitutional frameworks, and the impact of populism on democratic institutions. His work also explores election law and anti-corruption mechanisms.
