Bruce Pardy is a Professor of Law at Queen’s University, Canada, specializing in environmental law, constitutional law, and legal theory. He holds cross-appointments within the Faculty of Law and is affiliated with organizations such as the Fraser Institute (as a senior fellow), the Energy Probe Research Foundation (Executive Director of Rights Probe), and the Canadian Constitution Foundation. His research challenges legal progressivism and critiques discretionary administrative governance, focusing on environmental policy, climate change, property rights, and free speech.
Pardy’s career includes teaching at law schools in Canada, the U.S., and New Zealand; civil litigation at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP; and service as an adjudicator on the Ontario Environmental Review Tribunal. He has authored influential works like Ecolawgic: The Logic of Ecosystems and the Rule of Law (2015), and actively engages in media commentary on legal and policy issues. His advocacy includes resisting ideological mandates in legal practice (e.g., opposing the Law Society of Ontario’s Statement of Principles policy) and co-founding the Free North Declaration during the COVID-19 pandemic to protect civil liberties.
Research interests span environmental governance, the rule of law, and constitutional freedoms. His recent work critiques social justice movements in academia, university speech policies, and government overreach in crises. Pardy currently leads Rights Probe, analyzing policy and governance issues, and maintains a prolific output in legal journals, op-eds, and public debates.
