James Metzger is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Private & Commercial Law within the Faculty of Law & Justice at UNSW Sydney. He holds a PhD (UNSW), LLM (UNSW), JD (Northwestern University School of Law), and BA (Tufts University). Prior to academia, he practiced as a litigator in New York, admitted to multiple state and federal courts. His research focuses on civil litigation procedures (especially class actions), alternative dispute resolution, and blockchain technology’s role in legal dispute resolution.

Advising: Supervised ChhunVoleak Srun’s thesis on intervention letters in Cambodian land disputes.
Teaching: Leads courses like Resolving Civil Disputes (LAWS2371/JURD7271) and Court Process, Evidence & Proof (LAWS2351/JURD7251).
