Isabelle Deschenes is a Professor and Chair in the Department of Physiology & Cell Biology at The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying cardiac arrhythmias, particularly the roles of ion channels (e.g., sodium, potassium) and their accessory subunits in regulating cardiac excitability. She employs electrophysiological, biochemical, and imaging techniques to study inherited channelopathies and heart failure-related arrhythmias. Her work includes using patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to identify genetic modifiers influencing disease severity.
Education: PhD from Laval University, Canada (Quebec City), followed by postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University.
