Geoffrey W Abbott

Geoffrey W. Abbott, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. He holds dual leadership roles as Vice Dean for Basic Science Research and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Personnel. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias, ion channel physiology, and genetic mutations affecting heart function. Key contributions include identifying Gsα mutations linked to ventricular tachycardia and exploring potassium channel activation via botanical compounds. Abbott’s work integrates genetics, pharmacology, and clinical insights to advance arrhythmia treatment strategies.
