Isabel Tavora is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at the University of Manchester’s Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS). Her research focuses on promoting decent work, equality, and inclusive labor policies, particularly in contexts like the pandemic’s impact on collective bargaining and gender equity. She previously worked at Bristol Business School, University of the West of England.
Her current research projects include the role of staff networks in amplifying marginalized employees’ voices, EDI policy implementation in higher education, and the digitalization of work during the pandemic. Collaborations with institutions like the International Labour Office and European Trade Union Institute underscore her engaged, policy-oriented approach.
Isabel chairs AMBS’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee and led the school’s successful Athena Swan Bronze application. Her work aligns with UN SDGs addressing global inequalities and labor rights. Recent publications (2019–2024) explore topics such as gender disparities in pandemic-affected workforces, digitalization’s impact on ideal worker norms, and occupational trends in Malawi.
Her research has influenced international and national policies, including contributions to EU social policy discussions and analyses of post-crisis labor dynamics in Portugal. She actively bridges academic inquiry with practical solutions for equitable employment practices.
