Anna Seager is a Research Officer and Research Culture Manager at Swansea University, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science and the Department of Biomedical Sciences. Her work spans toxicology, pharmacology, and cell biology, with notable contributions to genotoxicity research and reducing animal testing in toxicology. She actively supports teaching in undergraduate/postgraduate programs like Cancer Genetics and Pharmacology, and was awarded a 2018 Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy for her research-informed pedagogy. Anna is a STEM ambassador and champion for Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), leading the Athena SWAN initiatives in the Medical School since 2015. These efforts earned the School Bronze (2014), Silver (2016, extended 2019), and her personal Mary Williams Award (2019) for EDI contributions.
Her research includes BEACON project collaborations linking innovation and entrepreneurship in Wales, genetic analysis of plant fertilization, and Cryptosporidium toxicology. She has published extensively on topics like micronucleus testing protocols, carcinogen mechanisms, and breast milk immunology. Anna also leads workshops on unconscious bias, promotions, and writing skills through the Athena SWAN seminar series, and serves on the University’s EDI committees.
