معرفی
Professor Gareth Jenkins is a faculty member at Swansea University's Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science, serving in the Biomedical Sciences department. He holds a Personal Chair (equivalent to Full Professor) and leads research in carcinogen toxicology and cancer diagnostics. His educational background includes a BSc from Kings College London, MSc from the University of the West of England, and PhD from the University of Wales.
His research focuses on:
- Mechanisms of carcinogen-induced DNA damage and cancer development
- Blood-based diagnostic approaches for early detection of oesophageal cancer
- Development of in vitro (cell-based) models to replace animal testing for carcinogen assessment
- Nanomaterial genotoxicity and safety evaluation
Professor Jenkins' recent publications demonstrate a strong emphasis on advanced toxicology models, including 3D liver systems and genomic approaches for mutation detection. His work frequently intersects nanotoxicology, cancer biomarkers, and in vitro methodology validation.
He teaches a third-year module on Cancer Genetics and is available for postgraduate supervision. His laboratory focuses on translational cancer research with industry and regulatory collaborations.
