معرفی
Professor Martin Clift is a leading academic at Swansea University Medical School, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science and the Department of Biomedical Sciences. He obtained his PhD in Nanoparticle In Vitro Toxicology from Edinburgh Napier University in 2009, followed by postdoctoral research at the University of Bern and the Adolphe Merkle Institute, University of Fribourg (2008–2015). Since 2015, he has been at Swansea University, where he focuses on nanoparticle-cell interactions, nanotoxicology, and advanced in vitro systems to assess health risks posed by engineered materials. His work emphasizes creating biologically relevant models to replace animal testing and investigate nanoparticle effects on human health.
His research spans nanotoxicology, particle and fiber toxicology, and alternative in vitro models. He actively contributes to teaching on the MSc Nanomedicine and undergraduate programs in Genetics-Biochemistry and Applied Medical Sciences. Collaborations include international projects on bioaerosol exposure and nanomaterial safety. His >100 publications highlight expertise in in vitro systems, genotoxicity, and lung barrier models.
Key projects include developing triple-cell culture models for alveolar barriers, studying indoor air pollution impacts, and investigating carbon nanotube toxicity. He supervises postgraduate students and is available for research supervision. His lab explores disease-based models and nanoparticle effects on immune systems, advancing toxinology and nanomedicine.
