معرفی
Insoo Kang, MD, is Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, with primary appointments in Rheumatology and affiliations in Allergy & Immunology, Human and Translational Immunology Program, Yale Center for Research on Aging (Y-Age), and the Yale Stem Cell Center. He has been a faculty member since 1999 and leads a research program focused on human T cell biology in health and disease.
Research Interests:
- Role of cytokine receptors (IL-7R, IL-6R, IL-1R) in defining T cell subsets
- Immune aging and immunosenescence
- Autoimmunity, particularly systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
- Th17 cell responses and NLRP3 inflammasome activation
- Translational immunology and human immune system analysis
His recent publications (2023–2025) span topics including T cell subsets in psoriatic arthritis, immune dysfunction in HIV-associated lung cancer, newborn screening for immunodeficiency, and the role of IL-1 signaling in vaccine responses. His work combines clinical data with biological samples to understand immune mechanisms in aging, inflammation, and autoimmune diseases.
Scientific Awards and Recognition:
- Publication cited as 'Must Read' by Faculty of 1000 Biology
Advising and Grants: Dr. Kang mentors trainees, including fellow Lais Osmani, and is a Sub-Investigator for the Yale Lupus and Connective Tissue Disease Bio-Repository (HIC ID 1602017276REG), which has been active since 2008. His research is supported by collaborations with prominent scientists such as Joseph Craft, Richard Bucala, and Min Shin.
Labs and Teams: His laboratory is part of the Immunobiology and Human and Translational Immunology programs at Yale, contributing to interdisciplinary research on immune mechanisms in human disease.
