Ian Roxan is an Associate Professor of Law at the LSE Law School, part of the London School of Economics and Political Science. He holds a BA from the University of Toronto, LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School, and MPhil/PhD in Economics from Cambridge University. His career spans legal practice, tax policy development, and academia. Previously, he worked as a solicitor in Canada and Brussels, advised on tax policy for the Canadian Department of Finance, and contributed to tax reforms in Africa and Asia through collaborations with the World Bank and Harvard Law School. He became a Senior Lecturer at LSE in 2003 after joining as a Lecturer in 1995.
His research focuses on taxation systems, trust institutions, and international tax planning. He has expertise in corporate law, value-added tax, and legal frameworks governing tax movements. His 2000 Wedderburn Prize-winning article in the Modern Law Review highlights his contributions to direct taxation and legal harmonization issues.
