Hera

Hera is a Lecturer in Design Communication at LASALLE College of the Arts. She holds an MA in Narrative Environments from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, and an MA (Research) from the School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, where she received the NTU-NHB grant for her research on the history of art exhibitions in Singapore.

Hera's research interests focus on Spaces of exhibition, decentring design history, and race and gender in visual representations. Her work critically examines the intersections of art, design, and social narratives within exhibition contexts, particularly in Southeast Asia.

Her 2021 publications analyze exhibition histories in Singapore and colonial visual culture in Java, revealing patterns in curatorial methodologies and the politics of representation across Southeast Asian art contexts.

Hera has been awarded the NTU-NHB grant by the National Heritage Board Singapore to support her research on the history of art exhibitions in Singapore.

Professional Practice: Hera leads interdisciplinary teams of professionals from diverse fields including design, art, architecture, and science to create exhibitions and digital experiences. Her curated exhibitions include 'Metonyms: Tracing Collective Memories' (2022), 'Infectious Collaborations: an entangled enquiry into forests and the pandemic' (2022), 'Peripheral Spaces' (2022), and 'Mountain pass: negotiating ambivalence' (2019). She also managed the 'USSG55 Virtual Photography Exhibition' (2021) commissioned by the US Embassy in Singapore.
