Dr. Vera Mey is a Lecturer in Art Curating at the Department of History of Art, University of York. She previously served as Guest Professor at Städelschule, Frankfurt (2022/2023) and held curatorial roles at institutions like the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore. Her research focuses on Southeast Asian art during the Cold War, interrogating modernity, tradition, and racial dynamics within regionalism. She co-founded the journal Southeast of Now and has organized major exhibitions, including SUNSHOWER in Tokyo (2017). Currently, she is Co-Artistic Director of the 2024 Busan Biennale and developing projects on anticapitalism and Buddhist enlightenment in South Korea.
