Prof. Gerben Meynen is a Professor of Forensic Psychiatry at the Willem Pompe Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology, Utrecht University, since 2018. He holds concurrent roles as Professor of Ethics (Bioethics) at VU Amsterdam and is a practicing psychiatrist at GGZ inGeest. His research focuses on criminal responsibility, neurolaw, and ethical implications of neurotechnologies in criminal justice.
Education:

Research: Meynen’s work bridges law, neuroscience, and ethics. His NWO Vici-funded project (2021–2026) examines neurotechniques’ ethical and legal applications in criminal justice. He collaborates across disciplines to address recidivism and legal norms.
