Frederick Mostert is a Professor of Practice in Intellectual Property Law at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London, and also holds the same position at Notre Dame School of Law, London. He is a Research Fellow at the Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre, University of Oxford, and an Extraordinary Professor at the University of Stellenbosch Law Faculty. He has held visiting and fellow positions at the London School of Economics, University College London, Peking University, and Tsinghua University.
His research focuses on the intersection of law, technology, and human rights, with particular expertise in intellectual property in the digital age. Key areas include artificial intelligence, blockchain, social media regulation, online due process, image rights, deepfakes, and international trademark law. He is deeply engaged in global policy development through institutions like WIPO and EUIPO.
Frederick's recent publications reflect a strong trend toward digital enforcement of IP rights, algorithmic transparency, and the need for online justice systems. His work spans academic journals, policy studies, and influential op-eds in the Financial Times and South China Morning Post. Themes across his articles include digital due process, intermediary liability, brand protection online, and the regulation of emerging technologies.

His academic leadership includes founding the Aequitas Principles on Online Due Process.
He is a founder of the Digital Scholarship Institute and the Digital Communities Lab, which focus on digital rights, online justice, and the ethical use of technology in law. These labs foster interdisciplinary collaboration on emerging legal challenges in the digital world.
