Frederick Mostert is a Professor of Practice at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London. He concurrently serves as a Research Fellow at the Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre (University of Oxford) and Extraordinary Professor at the University of Stellenbosch Law Faculty. His roles include:
- Past President of the International Trademark Association
- President of the Luxury Law Alliance
- Of Counsel at Bird & Bird
He has held fellowships at the London School of Economics and Visiting Professorships at University College London. Notable recognitions include the Intellectual Property Hall of Fame (2015) and King’s Education Awards. His work spans intellectual property strategy, luxury goods law, and digital innovation, including co-developing the Unicode 'Troll' emoji. He has provided pro bono legal support to figures like Nelson Mandela and the Shaolin Monks.
Frederick’s legal career includes roles at Shearman & Sterling (New York) and Fross Zelnick Lehrman & Zissu. He holds an LLM from Columbia University and an LLD from the University of Johannesburg. He is admitted to the New York Bar and the England & Wales Solicitors’ Roll.
