Alvaro Fernandez-Mora is a Lecturer in Intellectual Property Law at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London (since 2024). Previously, he held a Lecturer position at the University of York (2021-2024). He holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford, an LLM from Harvard Law School, and an LLB from Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid ICADE. Before academia, he worked as an associate lawyer at Hogan Lovells LLP's intellectual property litigation department in Madrid.
His research focuses on intersections between intellectual property law and human rights, competition law, and economics, often adopting a comparative perspective. His work has been published in leading journals such as the Berkeley Journal of International Law and the International Review of Intellectual Property and Competition Law.
He is a member of King’s Information and Intellectual Property Hub (KiiPH), a leading European research group covering IP regimes, privacy, and GDPR-related issues. His recent publications explore tensions between trademarks and public health rights, transatlantic free speech balancing, and economic dimensions of trademark law.
