Professor David Llewelyn holds the position of Professor of Intellectual Property Law at King's College London's Dickson Poon School of Law, and is an Honorary Professor at the University of Hong Kong. He is a practising lawyer, arbitrator, and External Director of the IP Academy Singapore. With over 40 years of experience, he specialises in intellectual property law with a focus on international and comparative aspects, trade mark law development in Europe, and commercialisation of IP rights.
His research explores issues arising from practical use and enforcement of IP rights, including enforcement mechanisms, cross-jurisdictional harmonisation, and legal coherence. He has authored foundational texts such as Cases, Materials and Commentary on Singapore Intellectual Property Law (2018) and Invisible Gold in Asia: Creating Wealth through Intellectual Property (2010).

David has advised the Singapore Court of Appeal as amicus curiae in IP litigation and contributes to shaping global IP discourse through his academic and legal work.
