Dr Georgia Jenkins is a Lecturer at the Kent Law School, University of Kent, since 2022. Previously, she held a Lecturer position at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), and completed her PhD as a Herchel Smith Scholar at QMUL's Intellectual Property Research Institute. Her doctoral research focused on platform liability under Article 17 of the EU Digital Single Market Directive. Before academia, she worked at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
Her research critically examines the social and cultural impacts of intellectual property (IP) systems, particularly how expanded IP protections may harm public interests. Current projects explore EU copyright law and trademark law in relation to music sampling, NFTs, and digital platforms. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses on Intellectual Property Law (LAWS5560), Contemporary Topics in Intellectual Property Law (LAWS8130), and Intellectual Property: Patents and Trade Marks (LAWS9340).
Dr Jenkins is a member of the International Association for the Advancement of Teaching and Research in Intellectual Property (ATRIP) and the British Literary and Artistic Copyright Association (BLACA). Her publications address topics such as artistic data sovereignty, AI inventorship, and trademark infringement in online marketplaces.
