Frederick Kwasi Dunyo

Frederick Kwasi Dunyo serves as an Instructor in Percussion within the Ethnomusicology department at the University of Toronto, with additional faculty appointments at York University, the Royal Conservatory of Music, and the Toronto District School Board. Born in Dagbamete, Ghana, he has practiced West African drumming and dance since early childhood and performs/teaches across Ghana, USA, Canada, Bermuda, and Taiwan.

His research centers on Ethnomusicology with specialized focus on Ewe cultural traditions, Percussion techniques, West African Music preservation, and Dance anthropology. Dunyo directs the West African Drumming & Dancing Ensemble and has conducted workshops at numerous North American universities, emphasizing experiential transmission of indigenous art forms.

As a Master Drummer, he bridges academic instruction with cultural practice, though no formal advising roles or scientific awards are documented in available sources.
