Prof. Dr. Frauke Henning-Bodewig is an Affiliated Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition and Lecturer at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. She holds first and second German state law examinations from Munich, a doctorate in law (Dr. iur.), and previously served as assistant professor at the University of Munich. She has extensive experience as head of research units and as legal counsel.
Her research focuses on competition law, intellectual property, and media law, with specialization in unfair commercial practices, European regulatory harmonization, consumer protection frameworks, and corporate social responsibility. Her work examines legal enforcement mechanisms and comparative international standards.
Her publications demonstrate evolving focus areas: early work on advertising liability (1980s), progressing to unfair competition harmonization (1990s-2000s), and recent analyses of enforcement mechanisms and corporate ethics (2010s). Current research addresses digital challenges in consumer protection and public enforcement.
