Dr. Erin Lionberger serves as an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Professional Effectiveness department at the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado Boulder. She teaches multiple communication courses including Communication Strategy, BASE, and Essential Management Skills, focusing on efficient business communication, public speaking, professional presenting, management skills, and leadership development.
Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in Rhetoric from Duquesne University (2021), an MS in Communication from South Dakota State University (2017), and a BA in Communication from the University of Colorado Boulder (2012).
Dr. Lionberger's research spans identity studies, semiotics, performance studies, political rhetoric, and communication ethics. Her dissertation, 'The Construction of Identity through Tattoos: A Semiotic and Performative Exploration of Trauma,' examines Holocaust concentration camp tattoos and 9/11 memorial tattoos as both symbolic representations and performances of identity.

She has also taught Business and Professional Communication, Public Speaking, Integrated Marketing Communication, and Debate and Argumentation during her academic career. Outside of her professional work, Dr. Lionberger enjoys spending time with her pug Leonardo, visiting with her parents in Longmont, and watching sports.
