Elizabeth England serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Music at Brandeis University, specializing in oboe and English horn instruction. She maintains an active dual career as second oboe and English horn player with the Boston Ballet Orchestra since 2016 and as a freelance performer with ensembles including the Boston Pops, Marsh Chapel Collegium, and Emmanuel Music across New England.
Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory under Mark McEwen. As a dedicated advocate for contemporary music, she performs regularly with ensembles like Callithumpian Consort and Sound Icon, notably premiering Klaus Lang’s oboe concerto Der Dünne Wal in 2019.
Ms. England holds residencies with Vento Chiaro (woodwind quintet) at the Virginia Arts Festival and Boston University Tanglewood Institute. Her commitment to music education extends to the New England Conservatory Preparatory School and private teaching throughout New England, focusing on developing emerging oboists.
She has received the St. Botolph Club Foundation’s Emerging Artist in Music Award (2013) and appears on recordings for Navona, Tzadik, and Ludovico Ensemble labels.
