Elizabeth Black is a Lecturer in Educational Leadership & Policy at the University of Glasgow, appointed since January 2017. She holds a part-time PhD focused on modern apprentices in Scotland's childcare sector, while teaching on Childhood Practice programs. Her research emphasizes workforce development in early learning, reflective practice, and non-traditional student experiences. She leads the MEd/PGD Childhood Practice program and serves on the Advisory Board of the International Conference on Improving University Teaching.
Key research areas include professional identity tensions in dual practitioner/student roles, co-produced learning tools, and policy impacts on childcare workforce sustainability. Recent work addresses graduate transitions and reflective practice frameworks. Her teaching spans pedagogy, leadership, and practitioner enquiry modules. Over 18 publications since 2017 include conference presentations on SoTL, feedback mechanisms, and curriculum standards.
