Marie McQuade is a Lecturer in Childhood Practice at the University of Glasgow's School of Education, serving as Programme Lead for the BA Childhood Practice and Depute of the Educational Leadership and Policy Research & Teaching Group. Her work bridges academic and policy spheres, with prior experience as a Policy Manager and Team Leader in the Scottish Government's Early Learning and Childcare Directorate. She holds a Master's degree focusing on early career leadership in education.
Her research interests include mentoring in early years leadership, widening participation in higher education, academic skills development, and screen education in early childhood. She leads courses such as Leadership Skills in Childhood Practice and Contemporary Perspectives on Children and Childhood.
McQuade is an External Examiner at the University of Highlands and Islands and contributes to national advisory roles including membership of the Scottish Government Research Advisory Group on Childcare and Creative Scotland's Screen Education Advisory Group. She also serves on the editorial team for the University of Glasgow's SoTL Podcast and multiple national/nongovernmental steering committees.
