Elisabet Björklund is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in Film Studies at Lund University's Centre for Languages and Literature, actively contributing to the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology. She serves as Director of Studies for the Creative Writing Program, Film Studies, and Theatre Studies, while also being an affiliated researcher at the Birgit Rausing Centre for Medical Humanities (BRCMH).

Her research specializes in the intersection of sexuality, reproduction, and medical history within Swedish film and television contexts, particularly focusing on historical visualizations of pregnancy and fetal imagery. She has co-edited anthologies like Swedish Cinema and the Sexual Revolution (2016) and A Visual History of HIV/AIDS (2019), and led the Swedish Research Council-funded project "Reproduction, Medicine and Politics in Swedish Television, 1956–1975" (2021–2024).
Recent research outputs (2024) explore the visual culture of pregnancy, fetal imagery in 20th-century media, and the ethical dimensions of televised sex education. Her work bridges film history, medical humanities, and gender studies, analyzing how television shaped public discourses on reproduction.
