Ed Taylor is a Professor at the University of Washington's College of Education and currently serves as Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Academic Affairs. He joined the university in 1995 and leads initiatives to enhance undergraduate education through academic opportunities, policy advocacy, and ecosystem development. His research focuses on comparative education in the U.S. and South Africa, moral dimensions of education, integrative education, and leadership in social justice contexts.
- Education: Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (UW), Master's in Psychology (Gonzaga University), B.A. in Sociology and Psychology (Gonzaga University).
His scholarly works include co-editing Foundations of Critical Race Theory in Education and co-authoring books like Transformative Conversations and Inside the Undergraduate Teaching Experience. Taylor actively contributes to community initiatives such as Rainier Scholars, Seattle Foundation, and the Rwanda Girls Initiative, emphasizing equity and access.
He co-chaired the Race & Equity Initiative and serves on national/international boards, including the Academy for Contemplative and Ethical Leadership and South African township education coalitions.
