Dr. Donna Kennedy is an Honorary Clinical Research Fellow and Senior Clinical Academic at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Imperial College London. She holds a PhD in Pain Research from Imperial College London (2018), an MSc in Health Sciences from the University of East Anglia (2009), and a BSc in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University (1984). Her primary affiliation is within the Department of Surgery & Cancer, Faculty of Medicine.
Her research focuses on surgical and traumatic scar evaluation, pain assessment in hand and upper limb conditions, and patient co-design in clinical research. She leads the development of a core outcome measurement set (COS) for hand/wrist scars and co-founded the Patient Partner Panel with the Pain Research Group to enhance patient engagement in chronic pain studies. She is funded by the NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre.
Dr. Kennedy participates in national guidelines (e.g., NICE rheumatoid arthritis updates) and professional organizations including the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). She teaches internationally and collaborates with the Imperial Wound Healing & Regeneration Network.
Her scientific awards include the NIHR Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship and NIHR BRC Postdoctoral Fellowship. She has contributed to the British Society for Surgery of the Hand’s priority-setting partnerships.
