Carrie Swigart, MD, is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at Yale School of Medicine and serves as the Section Chief of Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery. With over 25 years of clinical experience since joining Yale's faculty in 1997, she specializes in treating patients of all ages for hand, wrist, and arm disorders including traumatic injuries, workplace injuries, degenerative conditions, and nerve compression syndromes. Her clinical philosophy emphasizes patient engagement and functional outcomes.

She has contributed to consensus chapters on wrist pain management since 2003.
Her recent publications (2017-2003) span wrist trauma mechanics, nerve compression syndromes, and tissue repair optimization. Articles include biomechanical analyses of wrist fixators, comparative surgical techniques, and clinical guidelines for hand/wrist pain.
