Demah S. Payne III

Dr. Demah S. Payne III serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Counselor Education at St. Bonaventure University. He previously held adjunct professor roles at Wake Forest University and Northwestern University for two years, alongside maintaining a private licensed clinical mental health practice in North Carolina and working as a mental health counselor at Duke University.

His academic credentials include a Ph.D. from North Carolina State University (2020), an M.S. from East Carolina University (2011), and a B.S. from Campbell University (2008).

Dr. Payne’s research focuses on the intersection of school counseling and the social-emotional impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on adolescents and emerging adults. His professional experience spans school counseling, crisis counseling, and community counseling, with a particular emphasis on marginalized and oppressed communities.

He has taught specialized courses such as CE 630 (Management of School Counseling Programs) and CE 650 (School Counseling and Special Education).
