Deena Levy is an Associate Teaching Professor of Italian and Senior Instructional Consultant at Penn State University, affiliated with the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence. She holds a PhD in Italian from Rutgers University and an M.Ed. in Learning, Design, and Technology from Penn State. Her roles include faculty development, curriculum design, and instructional consulting, with a focus on global learning, online teaching, and intercultural education.
Her expertise spans technology integration in pedagogy, language education, and the Italian Resistance’s cultural legacy. She co-facilitates the Global Learning Faculty Fellows program and advises Penn State’s Center for Language Acquisition. Levy is also an ACTFL-certified OPI & OPIc rater with over 16 years in oral proficiency assessment via Language Testing International (LTI).
Previously, she taught Italian language and literature at Penn State and Rutgers. She remains active in education abroad programming and honors course design.
