Yongfei Yi is a Lecturer in Chinese and Japanese at the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, Department of Modern Languages & Comparative Literature at Baruch College, CUNY. She holds a Ph.D. and MA in East Asian Languages and Literatures from The Ohio State University and a BA in Japanese from China Foreign Affairs University.
Research Interests:
- Second language acquisition with focus on oral proficiency and literacy pedagogy
- Postwar East Asian literature
- Sino-Japanese comparative literature and cultural studies
Awards:
- Certified ACTFL OPI Tester and Rater
Teaching: She teaches elementary Chinese and Japanese courses and specializes in curriculum development and pedagogical material design. Her pedagogical philosophy emphasizes student motivation and discovery of inner passion for language learning.
Service: Active in academic committees including the Department Social Committee and Course Placement and Student Advisement.
