Mei Kong is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Chinese within the School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of Maryland (UMD). She has been teaching at UMD since 2005, following academic roles at Nanjing University, Grinnell College, Georgetown University, and as director of the CIEE Study Abroad Program at Peking University.
- Education: B.A. and M.A. in Chinese Language and Literature/Linguistics from Nanjing University, M.A. in TESL from Georgetown University, and a Graduate Certificate in American Studies from The Johns Hopkins University-Nanjing University Center.
Her research focuses on the intersection of language education and assessment, with specialized certifications in language testing (ACTFL OPI Workshop Presenter/Facilitator, OPI Tester, ACTFL OPIc Rater, WPT Rater, ILR OPIc Rater). She has extensive experience in curriculum design and language pedagogy.
