Lenir Neiva dos Santos is a Lecturer in Portuguese at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Arts and Sciences (SAS), where she has taught since Fall 2010. She also holds teaching roles at The Lauder Institute and the English Language Programs at Penn, instructing ESL courses. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, she has lived in the U.S. since 2001.
Education: M.S.Ed. in TESOL from Temple University; B.A. in Letras (Literature, Portuguese and English) from Universidade Ibero Americana (UNIBERO), with a minor in Portuguese-English-Portuguese translation and interpretation.
Research interests focus on Second Language Acquisition and Bilingualism, complemented by expertise in TESOL and translation studies. She is a certified Portuguese OPI tester/rater and AAPPL rater for Interpersonal Listening/Speaking (ILS) and Presentational Writing (PW) through ACTFL.
