Elisa Baena is a Professor of Instruction in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Northwestern University, affiliated with the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Chicago (2004). Her roles include Director of the Spanish Language and Culture Study Abroad Program in Barcelona (since 2008), Spanish Placement Coordinator, and Chair of the Weinberg Language Proficiency Committee (since 2015). She is certified as an ACTFL Spanish Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) tester, AAPPL rater, and DELE Diplomas examiner (A1-C2).
