David Leapley serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Trumpet at Wittenberg University since 2012, bringing over 35 years of trumpet instruction experience and 30 years teaching instrumental music in Ohio public schools.
Education:
- Bachelor of Music from Capital University
- Master's degree from The Ohio State University
His professional focus spans trumpet performance pedagogy, brass ensemble direction, and community music education. He studied under renowned trumpet artists including Ray Eubanks, Richard Suddendorf, Carmine Caruso, Lowell "Bud" Arthur, and Bert Truax (a James Stamp protégé and former Dallas/Philadelphia Orchestra member). Performance credits include the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Symphony, and regional dance bands across the Dayton-Springfield area.
He maintains active professional engagement through memberships in the National Association for Music Education and International Trumpet Guild, having previously served as district president and contest chairperson for the Ohio Music Education Association. Current ensemble leadership includes directing the Greene County Adult Concert Band and performing with the Ohio Valley British Brass Band.
