Daniel Orban serves as Instructor of Trumpet at the School of Music, bringing extensive experience from his 30-year tenure as Trumpeter and Cornetist with "The President's Own" U.S. Marine Band where he performed for Presidents Clinton through Trump.
His educational foundation includes Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the University of Maryland, where he studied under Dr. Emerson Head and made history as the first trumpet performance major to win both Undergraduate and Graduate Homer Ulrich Solo Competitions.
Orban's performance expertise spans Classical, Jazz, Big Band, Funk, and Latin genres, with notable collaborations including Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and B.B. King. His current artistic focus involves trumpet performance with San Antonio Brass Band, San Diego Symphony Orchestra, and Jacob's Masterworks Orchestra.
He has received recognition through the

As an educator, Orban maintains active involvement with youth programs including DC Youth Orchestra and Montgomery Youth Orchestra, while coaching university-level jazz ensembles. His professional activities extend to founding the Bayfield Brass Quintet and performing with Smithsonian Masterworks Orchestra.
Outside music, he operates in pool construction and service industries, having built his first personal pool in 2021 after running a pool business from 1988-2010.
