Associate Professor Daniel Joyce holds dual roles as Associate Professor at UNSW Law & Justice and Associate Dean (Research). He specializes in international law, media law, and human rights, with notable expertise in digital media governance and social media regulation. Educated at ANU (BA/LLB Hons) and the University of Cambridge (LLM/PhD), his academic career includes postdoctoral fellowships at Columbia Law School and the University of Helsinki. He currently leads research projects on freedom of expression and online speech through the Gilbert + Tobin Centre of Public Law. Joyce serves on editorial boards for prominent journals including the Australian Journal of Human Rights and Cambridge Journal of International Law. His research explores intersections between media infrastructure, legal frameworks, and human rights in the digital age. Recent work includes examining Gaza conflict legal dimensions and co-curating the At the Vanishing Point exhibition on international law's material culture.
