Dr Matilda Gillis is a Research Fellow and College Lecturer in Law at Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge, and an Affiliated Lecturer at the Faculty of Law. She serves as a College Lecturer, Access Officer, Director of Studies for Part 1A, and Postgraduate Tutor. Her research focuses on international law, human rights, public law, and armed conflict, with emphasis on topics like modern slavery in conflict zones, EU trade agreements, and metaphor usage in legal discourse.
Education: BA/LLB (Hons) from Australian National University; LLM (International Law) and PhD from Cambridge, funded by Trinity College and Peterhouse. Previously held roles at LSE, ANU, and as a solicitor for the Australian Government Solicitor in constitutional law. Engages in consultancy work with international and NGOs.
Publications highlight critical analyses of legal frameworks in global contexts, including EU trade dynamics, pandemic governance, and feminist critiques of citizenship laws. Awards include the Clive Parry Prize for International Law and prestigious scholarships for postgraduate studies. Her work bridges doctrinal analysis with interdisciplinary perspectives, addressing contemporary challenges in law and human rights.
