معرفی
Daniel Cuthbertson is a Professor of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Medicine at the University of Liverpool, where he has held a Personal Chair since 2015. His research spans metabolic diseases with particular focus on obesity, diabetes, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Previously, he served as a lecturer at the University of Dundee from 2000 to 2007 before joining Liverpool.
His research interests encompass Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, Obesity, Type 2 diabetes, Insulin resistance, Ectopic fat, and Cardiovascular disease. His work integrates clinical trials, systematic reviews, and mechanistic studies to understand metabolic disorders and develop interventions. His research portfolio includes investigations into dietary interventions for liver health, exercise physiology in diabetes management, and ethnic disparities in metabolic disease.
An analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on translational research connecting metabolic health with cardiovascular outcomes. His work frequently examines interventions for metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), pharmacological approaches to diabetes management including SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists, and the relationship between ectopic fat deposition and metabolic complications. His research demonstrates consistent collaboration with clinical teams across multiple institutions.
Cuthbertson serves as a peer reviewer for major journals including Gut, Journal of Hepatology, and The Lancet, demonstrating his standing in the field. He has secured research funding including the RESILIENT project with AstraZeneca (2018-2023), which likely supported his work on metabolic interventions.
As a member of the Royal College of Physicians, he contributes to professional standards in medicine while maintaining an active research program. His work bridges clinical practice and scientific investigation, with particular attention to practical interventions for metabolic disease management.
