معرفی
Jeremy Tomlinson is a Professor of Metabolic Endocrinology at the University of Oxford’s Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM). He is associated with Keble College, Oxford. His research focuses on understanding metabolic diseases, particularly non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), obesity, and type 2 diabetes, with an emphasis on steroid hormone metabolism’s role in disease progression and treatment. His work aims to develop biomarkers for disease staging and therapies to mitigate steroid side effects.
Key research interests include metabolic dysfunction-associated liver diseases (MetALD/MASLD), glucocorticoid-related pathologies, and diagnostic algorithms for endocrine disorders like Cushing’s syndrome and adrenal insufficiency. He leads the Tomlinson Group, which studies steroid hormone biology’s impact on metabolism.
Recent studies explore dietary interventions for liver disease, hypertension management in congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), and the use of GLP-1 receptor agonists in obesity. He has contributed to clinical guidelines, such as the 2024 NICE guideline on adrenal insufficiency, and pioneered protocols for early liver cancer detection (PEARL study).
No scientific awards are explicitly listed. His work spans academic collaborations and translational research, including a citizen science initiative on NAFLD. Education includes MB BCh (Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery), PhD, and FRCP (Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians).
