Catherine Zhang, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), where she joined the faculty in 2022. Her clinical expertise focuses on endocrine disorders, particularly adrenal and pituitary conditions, including adrenal tumors, hormonal excess syndromes, and post-surgical recovery from Cushing’s syndrome. She holds a BA in Biological Sciences from Northwestern University, an MD from The Ohio State University, and completed her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Endocrinology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Zhang’s research explores adrenal and pituitary dysfunction, emphasizing the clinical and metabolic consequences of hormone imbalances. Her work addresses diagnostic and therapeutic challenges in adrenal insufficiency, cognition post-adrenalectomy, and the long-term outcomes of adrenal adenomas. She has contributed to studies on glucocorticoid withdrawal syndrome, cortisol profiling, and innovative screening methods like home salivary cortisone testing.
Her publications span topics such as steroid therapy optimization in Cushing’s syndrome, cognitive effects of adrenal disorders, and quality improvement in diabetic ketoacidosis management. She collaborates widely across institutions, including Mayo Clinic and international centers, to advance endocrine care and research.
