Cynthia Anderson is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Dance. Her career spans decades of renowned performance roles across leading international ballet companies. She began her training at the Joffrey Ballet School, supported by a scholarship from Robert Joffrey, and later joined the Joffrey Ballet II and main company. She performed with The Joffrey Ballet, Washington Ballet, and American Ballet Theatre (ABT) under Mikhail Baryshnikov, excelling in classical, dramatic, and modern repertoires. Celebrated for her technical precision, fluid classicism, musicality, and dramatic interpretation, Anderson’s work has been shaped by collaborations with choreographers like Sir Frederick Ashton, Gerald Arpino, and Twyla Tharp.
