Craig Taylor is Professor of Medieval History at the University of York, Fellow of the Société de l'Histoire de France and the Royal Historical Society. His research examines intellectual and cultural history of 14th-15th century France and England, focusing on chivalry, the Hundred Years War, and Joan of Arc.
Research reconstructs medieval political thought through life-writings and textual analysis. Current projects include a study of Joan of Arc's Nullification Trial, analyzing witness testimony to explore memory and historical truth. Earlier work explored chivalric ideology through biographies of figures like Marshal Boucicaut.
Publications demonstrate expertise in manuscript analysis and reinterpretation of medieval political culture. Collaborative projects include the AHRC-funded 'England's Immigrants 1330-1550' database documenting medieval migration patterns.
