Dr Christine Campbell is an Associate Professor at St Mary's University, specializing in gender and sexuality studies. She holds a BSc (Hons) from Portsmouth University (1996) and a PhD from the University of Southampton (2000). Her research focuses on consensual non-monogamy, intimate relationships, body image, and media representation of genitalia. She established the Gender and Sexuality research cluster at St Mary's and actively collaborates with institutions like UWE on menopause studies and Bournemouth/Coventry Universities on non-monogamy research.
Teaching responsibilities include qualitative/quantitative research methods, critical psychology, and specialized courses in relationship psychology. She has supervised six PhD students to completion and is actively involved in academic service roles, including committee positions with the BPS Psychology of Sexualities Section and international conferences on non-monogamies.
Her work bridges academia and public discourse through media engagements with BBC Radio, The Independent, and Stylist Magazine. She provided expert testimony to the UK Parliament's Women and Equalities Committee on body image issues (2020) and participated in documentaries like LRT's "Colors" (2019). Key research themes include stigma navigation by sex workers, healthcare accessibility for non-monogamous individuals, and cultural depictions of bodily ideals.
