Jamie Chan

Jamie Chan is a Lecturer in the School of Humanities and Social Science at the University of Brighton, actively contributing to the Centre for Transforming Sexuality and Gender (as Communications Lead) and the Inclusive Digital Societies Research Excellence Group. She teaches across multiple psychology modules including Psychology Beyond the Barriers and leads the newly approved Consumer Culture, Body Image and Wellbeing module (2025/26), employing critical pedagogy to foster inclusive, dialogical learning environments that address systemic power dynamics.

• Impacts of white supremacy, classism, and sexism on appearance-based discrimination
• Objectification and commodification of women's bodies

Her methodology centers on interpretative phenomenological analysis within critical social psychology.
