Chris Barlow is a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education at the University of Cumbria, where he has worked for 18 years. He holds roles including Lancaster cohort leader, module leader for 'Being a Teacher,' and leader of the Environmental and Experiential PG specialism. He specializes in supporting the Primary Post Graduate teaching degree and the Blackpool Sea View School Direct route. He leads primary geography education and spearheads the Eden Project North-inspired Morecambe Bay Curriculum initiative for local schools.
- Education: BEd with Geography, PGCE in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, MA in Education
His research focuses on creativity in primary geography/history, outdoor learning, and new teacher attitudes. He has pioneered place-based learning initiatives and curriculum development projects like the Morecambe Bay Curriculum.
Chris serves as an external examiner for primary education programs at Plymouth University, Hull University, the University of South Wales, and Leicester University. He previously contributed to the Geographical Association’s Teacher Education Special Interest Group (2018–2022).
